The visuality of Irish manuscripts after print
Lecture by Peadar Ó Muircheartaigh (Oilthigh Dhùn Èideann)
This talk will examine some examples of illustration and decoration in Irish manuscript books from the end of the seventeenth century until the middle of the nineteenth century. Particular attention will be paid to the ways in which Irish scribes borrow aspects of the visuality of the printed book and in doing so reflect a number of trends in European visual culture over the course of three centuries.
